“Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt 18: 1-3).
Leadership is to serve the community. Superior is a visible sign of God. The compassionate face of God shines to the destitute through the superior. The hearts of our brethren are touched by the living examples than by preaching. Christ our supreme leader was the most humble person on earth, who is our model. Though Jesus was fully engaged during the day with his preaching and healing ministry without even getting time to rest or eat, he always found time to kneel before the Father and share everything with him. When Moses the leader knelt before God, conversed with him face to face as a friend on the mountain in the cloud. The examples of our present Pope Francis, Pope Benedict and St. John Paul II are vivid pictures for leaders for their simplicity, profound humility and an ardent devotion to Mother Mary, that could be imitated. An effective leader is a true disciple of Christ who follows Him intimately by living the Word of God.
“The Son of man came not to be serve but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”.(MK.10:45)
The responsibility of the Superior is to unite all the members, so that each one can discern and do the will of God himself / herself (The authorities will be as worthy to adorn their possessions as they are authentic images and representatives of Christ). Christ the good shepherd is our model. By surrendering everything in the hands of God we were trying to fulfill this great responsibilities.
